August happenings

Hello -
Wow! Where to begin? Grandpa had 3 trips - I only 2! We both went to Rosebud to their luncheon theatre -quite a popular tourist attraction. We saw The Good Doctor - a spoof on Chekov - very well done. We stayed at the Inn and enjoyed the sites of this tiny hamlet that has survived extinction because of the enterprising people who started a theatre school. Grandpa had a 9-hole golf game while I drove the golf cart - I am still recovering from the worst cold ever!! Then we drove to Torrington to see the Gopher Hole Museum - quite a novel way to entice tourists - the ladies hit upon the idea of dressing 'taxidermist' gophers in various outfits and displaying them in show boxes . Very innovative.
The PG Youngs drove us to Calgary to attend the 50th wedding anniversary of our mutual friends & we were able to stay at the Redds in their very brand new Tuscanny home. All the company enjoyed a raft trip along the Bow River & we were also able to visit friends.
Grandpa, Hu, Hugo drove to the Cyprus Hills near where Grandpa was born. He was surprised to see the town was still on the map -and has become quite a tourist town with a dinosaur museum, Wallace Stegner's home converted for writers in residence & home to artists. They visited other historic places in southern Alberta and returned very satisfied to know Alberta has many exciting places to see.
We've had some h-o-t weather & are lucky to have survived - because we have the downstairs bedroom where we could get a comfortable night's sleep.
Love to all
Grannie
